Nutritional value aside, popcorn is a treat in our household. And it tastes best straight from the kettle. I’ve been wanting a fun kettle corn popper that we could pull out for movie nights or just when we want to enjoy popcorn. One specifically that Jayden would enjoy watching as it pops up a tasty treat. Nostalgia Electrics, home to all sorts of retro home appliances, sent us the Retro Series Kettle Popcorn Maker. Since we are pressed for space, this table top popper is just what we needed.
The Retro Series Kettle Popcorn Maker pops up a fresh and delicious popcorn, just like the movie theaters. Whenever we use it, our living room is filled with the yummy aroma of authentically popped kettle corn. The popcorn maker features a small, stainless steel kettle with a built-in stirring system and pops up to 8 cups of popcorn per batch. It includes a measuring spoon for oil and a measuring cup for popcorn kernels, so every batch pops perfectly provided that instructions are followed and a quality popcorn is used.
That said, I want to point out some things, hoping that they help with getting the best out of the product. We follow the instructions closely and use organic popcorn with coconut oil and butter with our maker. We get very few unpopped kernels. We’ve used Great Value popcorn too and have gotten lots of unpopped kernels, so I believe that quality popcorn pops best. The kettle is small and a little awkward to clean, however, I make it work. After each use, I brush any kernels out with a pastry brush and wipe it out with a paper towel. To clean the bottom of the machine, I take my DC35 and vacuum up any unpopped kernels. Another option would be to line the bottom with foil for easier cleanup.
Keeping a little maintenance in mind, the Retro Series Kettle Popcorn Maker by Nostalgia Electrics is a neat little appliance that makes eating popcorn more enjoyable and fun for small families :).
